The ever popular county of Cornwall has scooped the Best UK Holiday County or Region award at the British Travel Awards 2011 for the second year in a row.
Proving to be a firm favourite with the British public on a continual basis, Cornwall secured the majority of the votes over neighbours Devon and Cumbria in the Lake District.
In an impressive double award win for the county, the Cornish seaside town of St Ives was voted Best UK Seaside Town. Cornish tourist attraction Eden Project also took the silver award for Best UK Day Out Experience.
The British Travel Awards, widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the travel industry has over 70 different categories encompassing every type of holiday experience and this year attracted more than 220,000 votes.
Malcolm Bell, Head of Tourism at VisitCornwall, collected the awards and said: “I am immensely proud to accept these Awards for Cornwall and St Ives. To win at both county and town level is a huge achievement and the facts that the Awards are based on public opinion make them even more significant.”
CLC World has two Cornish resorts, Hustyns near Wadebridge and CLC Trenython Manor close to Fowey, both of which provide beautiful accommodation in what continues to be the best loved holiday county in the UK.
