There’s no chance of our guests getting bored or going hungry if they decide to pay a visit to nearby Eden Project on Saturday March 2nd. For that’s the day that Eden hosts the second annual World Pasty Championship.
Visitors will find a fun-filled day of activities including pasty workshops, real ale beer tasting and speed crimping competitions, all to pay homage to the county’s famous humble but nourishing dish.
The air will not just be filled with the delicious smells of cooking! Eden has laid on a fantastic line-up of local comedy and music talent, including cult comic the Kernow King, the 11-strong male voice choir The Oggymen, the Cornish Wurzells, young dynamic singer Saskia Maxwell and bluegrass band Flats and Sharps, so expect laughter and music to tickle the senses too.
The inaugural competition held last year was a big hit and drew more than 100 competitors and this year it will be even bigger, with eight classes covering companies, professionals, amateurs and juniors. And if you reckon you can produce a stunning traditional pasty or can demonstrate a succulent pasty recipe with a twist there’s still time to take part!
