Cornwall – pretty seaside villages, cream teas, World Heritage sites and Charlestown Regatta Week!

In fact, Charlestown Regatta week encapsulates the first three items and adds good old-fashioned British carnival fun to the mix. From raft races, water polo in the harbour, the carnival parade, a knobbly knees competition to an evening of live music, this is a week of fun and games for all the family.

Charlestown is a wonderful example of an unspoiled Georgian port. It was created by, and named after, Charles Rashleigh in response to the growth of the local mining industry in the late 18th century. This quaint village boasts elegant Georgian houses and squat fishermen’s cottages and has been used as a location for film and television projects including Poldark, Hornblower and Mansfield Park.

So why not combine a flavour of the past with today’s carnival atmosphere and pop down to Charlestown. The 2016 Regatta Week runs from Saturday 30th July to Friday 5th August.
