The hotel team at Trenython Manor has always taken great pride in furthering the cause of environmental, sustainable and socially responsible performance and they have, over the years, developed excellent ‘green’ credentials.
However, today they surpassed themselves, having been recognised as the ‘UK Considerate Hotel of the Year 2014’ in a ceremony at the prestigious Langham Hotel in London.
Last year’s winners – at the first attempt – of the award for the most considerate ‘Marketing Initiative’ have gone one better this time by taking the overall UK title in the face of stiff competition from some very famous hotels, including the Hyatt Regency London and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire.
The judges included experts from all corners of the hotel and tourism sectors, and must have had a supremely difficult job in deciding the winners across all 8 awards categories.
“After winning our first ‘Considerate’ award last year, we have tried even harder and have been ever more creative in our push for sustainability. With such a select list of nominees, I am naturally thrilled and delighted with our achievement today,” said resort manager Nick Waddington shortly after the ceremony.
Dubbed the ‘Considerate Oscars’, the annual awards programme was established by the Considerate Hoteliers Association, founded in London in 1991. It is open to all UK members, and has an expanding international membership. Representation comes from businesses of all sizes and shapes, all sharing a common commitment to the environment in which they operate.
