Inspired by Nature was taken as the theme, with activities that ranged across art, music and the outdoors; with tips on writing from best selling children’s author Liz Kessler (A Year in Autumn). A musical performance was given by pupils of Fowey Community College.
The inspiration of the natural world produced a batch of highly creative entries for a poetry competition, while kite-making; nature trails, archery and willow weaving were among a variety of pursuits enthusiastically embraced.
“We chose to make it a celebration of National Children’s Day too and it was wonderful to see families having such a great time together and taking such pleasure in our natural surroundings. The standard of the poems for the competition was impressive, “said resort manager Nick Waddington.
Fowey Festival began with a civic parade through the town and saw a number of famous faces – local and national – participating and including TV celebrities Richard and Judy; novelist Lynda La Plante and pianist Jonathan Elbridge who gave a recital.
