It was a great night for Cornwall at the British Travel Awards 2012, the county scooped up many accolades including the Duchy being named Best UK Holiday County or Region.
Cornwall has been proud of its prowess as the nation’s favourite holiday county – now underlined by the 2012 title, while artist centre St Ives has a top notch Gold for Best UK Coastal Town and unique Eden Project is officially Best UK attraction.
Fal River Cornwall, which runs a fleet of classic ferries and offers tourist boat trips and cruises, as well as transport links for the local community, was awarded Silver for the Best UK Waterways/Lakes Boat Operator and Bronze for Best UK Coastal Town – the Fal River encompasses Falmouth, St Mawes and Truro. Another bronze for Cornwall was take by Minack in the Best UK Heritage Attraction category.
The Fal River team work with more than 300 organisations promoting this part of Cornwall, coordinating the River Festival in May and Autumn Walking Festival in October and November. Among its supporters is CLC Trenython Manor, which offers distinguished accommodation and facilities in the popular St Austell Bay area.
Nick Waddington, resort manager at CLC Trenython Manor, was jubilant at the county’s outstanding awards success. He said. “Congratulations Fal River. Those of us privileged to live and work in Cornwall have always believed the county to be a treasure and one that continually adds to its shine with new projects and attractions.”
He will be at the Cornwall Tourism Awards on November 8th to receive the resort’s award as one of three finalists in the new 2012 Wildlife Friendly category!
