Six famous names will be seen in our main hall, as that’s where we are hanging the celebrity doodles bought at auction to help fund Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s important conservation work.
Some 29 doodles on the theme ‘marine creatures’ were auctioned as part of the Trust’s 50th anniversary celebrations, many receiving a bid from CLC Trenython Manor which successfully purchased sketches by the following: TV presenter Chris Tarrant; Juliet Stevenson, one of Britain’s premier actresses; film and TV actor Richard E. Grant; news presenter Kate Adie; Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley, CBE, and Sharron Davies MBE, broadcaster and Olympian.
The ‘fun and fantasy’ pen and ink drawings should certainly prove a talking point. Resort manager Nick Waddington also had 2 successful personal bids for sketches by conservationist and broadcaster Bill Oddie and children’s book author Michael Morpurgo. He says: “At CLC Trenython Manor, we pride ourselves on doing all we can to help protect and promote the beautiful environment of the county of Cornwall in which we are so fortunate to both live and work.”
