You are never far from a beach in Cornwall and from Trenython you can take your pick of plenty, from tiny historic fishing ports and smugglers’ coves to sweeping sandy bays. Families can indulge in the age-old pastimes of building sandcastles, or exploring rock pools and caves, while in or on the water there are numerous activities such as swimming, fishing, surfing, kite- surfing, diving, dinghy sailing, kayaking and windsurfing.
Here are a few suggestions of beaches to visit:
Polkerris, Fowey – a peaceful sandy cove that gets busy in summer
Ready Money, Fowey - a sheltered, gently sloping beach from where you can walk up to St Catherine’s Castle
Pendower Beach, nr Truro - lots of water activities
Port Mellon, Mevagissey – a small, sandy cove where seals are sometimes sighted on the rocks
Polstreath Beach, Mevagissey – descend 200 steps leading to a small sand and pebble beach
Looe East Beach - a popular family beach and historic fishing village
Castle Beach, Falmouth - a rocky, sandy beach with abundant rock pools
Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth - the main resort beach, zoned for safe sailing, windsurfing, canoeing etc.
Maenporth, Falmouth – famous wreck of the Ben Asdale visible at low tide
